Shipstar can generate twelve types of content from your GitHub commits. Each type has a specific format, length, and purpose — so you can pick the right one for your audience and channel. All types are available from the dashboard and via the API.
Long-form and written content
- Feature Blog — A 1,200–1,800 word, SEO-optimized feature announcement written as a narrative. Best used when you ship something significant and want a detailed post that drives search traffic.
- Blog Post — A shorter general post (600–1,000 words) covering recent development activity. Good for regular product updates published to your blog.
- Daily Product Update — A concise Markdown summary of what shipped in the last 24 hours. Useful for internal stakeholder updates or a public activity feed.
- Weekly Product Update — A Markdown summary of the week's development highlights, written for non-technical readers. Focused on business outcomes and user impact rather than implementation details.
Social media content
- LinkedIn Post — A 150–300 word professional post ready to share. Polished in tone and formatted for LinkedIn's audience.
- Twitter Thread — A 3–5 tweet thread where each tweet stays under 280 characters. Structured for engagement and easy to post directly.
Structured and embeddable content
- Public Changelog — A structured JSON changelog with categorized entries (new features, improvements, fixes), each with a title and description. Publishes to a public URL with an RSS feed.
- Release Notes Email — JSON-formatted release notes with a subject line, introduction, structured notes, and closing. Ready to send to your subscribers.
- Feature Page — Structured JSON containing a hero section, benefits, how-it-works steps, and a call to action. Designed to be rendered on your marketing site.
- KB Articles — A set of categorized help center articles in JSON format. Multiple articles are generated per run, organized by topic, and can be published to Intercom or Featurebase.
Additional content types
- Banner — An announcement bar you can embed on your site or publish on a schedule. Useful for highlighting a specific release or promotion.
- Content Ideas — A set of suggested topics based on what recently shipped, to help you decide what to write or promote next.
Credit costs at a glance
Each generation run costs a fixed number of credits from your monthly allowance:
The Banner type can be generated and scheduled from the dashboard. Content Ideas cost 50 credits and return a list of suggested topics rather than finished content.
