Schedule automatic content generation

Shipstar's scheduling feature lets you set up recurring calendar events that automatically trigger content generation on a cadence you define — so your changelog, blog post, or social update goes out every week without you having to remember to kick it off. Once a schedule is active, Shipstar handles the generation in the background and can publish or deliver the result for you automatically.

Setting up a recurring schedule

1. Open the Calendar page from the dashboard sidebar.
2. Create a new event and choose the content type you want to generate (for example, Public Changelog or Weekly Product Update).
3. Set the recurrence pattern. Shipstar supports RFC 5545 RRULE recurrence, which covers daily, weekly, monthly, and custom patterns — such as every Friday, the first of every month, or every weekday.
4. Choose a delivery target for each occurrence:

• Publish — the generated content is published to its public URL automatically.
• Slack channel — the content is posted to a connected Slack channel on generation.

1. Optionally, set per-schedule content guidelines (voice and focus instructions) in the schedule dialog. These override your project defaults for every occurrence of that schedule. See Content guidelines for the available options.
2. Save the schedule. It will appear on the calendar and trigger automatically at each occurrence.

Each schedule carries its own voice preset (technical, business, or mixed) and free-text instructions. This means a weekly changelog sent to a Slack channel for your team can be written in a technical register, while a monthly blog post can be written for a business audience — both running automatically from the same project.

What happens when credits run out

If your team's monthly credit allowance is exhausted when a scheduled occurrence fires, Shipstar skips that generation rather than failing or queuing it indefinitely. Scheduling resumes automatically after your credits reset on your next billing anchor day — you don't need to re-enable anything. Non-generation activity (reviewing drafts, publishing, editing) is unaffected. You can check your current credit balance in the dashboard sidebar or under Account → Plan.
